My quest to become a Yummy Mummy continued yesterday; I left Little Miss Busby with Nick, and hopped on a train to attend The Vintage Cosmetic Company’s Press Event in the Sanctum Hotel, Soho. I’ve decided that I love going to press events; I find it fascinating chatting to fellow Bloggers and discovering new blogs!
The Vintage Cosmetic Company‘s journey began in May 2011. The company started with their signature 1950’s style lashes, which are each named after a different vintage lady (Nancy, Betty, Kitty, Connie and Gracie). However, as the company have blossomed so have their products. They’re launching a full range in Boots at the end of May 2013, so it’s definitely worth perusing the aisles in the near future, as their products are gorgeous and girly! Perfect for a well-deserved pamper.
So the event. There was cake: that’s a win in my books. Seriously, the chocolate brownies were to die for! I was (not so) secretly hoping that there might be some bubbles, but hey, a girl can’t have everything – and I got my bubbles later lunching with a girlfriend!
Anyway, I digress… I was greeted by the lovely Caroline who guided me over to the cake (I think we’ve been here before), and then got chatting to Sophie who blogs over at La Vie Sophie, Jaye who blogs at Bed in the Kitchen, and Holly who blogs at Impatience is a Virtue (all worth a visit). After a chat and a drink, we made our way over to the Make-up Artist who was applying lashes. After choosing a type of lash (I chose Nancy, as she looked fun!) we had them applied. I’m about to make a shocking confession: I have never used fake lashes before, (I know. Shocker.) so was fairly excited about this new venture! I was also slightly concerned that they might make me look like a man in drag, as I feel that make-up occasionally has a tendency to do this to me…
Self-conscious stream of thought over… What do you think? It’s taken me a while to get used to them, but just as I need to take them off (it’s bedtime as I type) I’m beginning to really love them. I’m not sure I could commit to wearing them everyday though!
We were also given this beautiful nail file (above), which is very pretty!
After the event I met a friend for lunch (another beautiful Busby!) who I haven’t seen for five years… honestly, I have no idea where the time has gone since uni! After a wonderful catch up, I made my way to H&M on Oxford Street. Oh my, I could have spent all day in there. I bought some funky new trousers for my impending holiday, which I love! But more about them later.
So yes. The quest continues. I’m not Yummy enough yet – but I’m getting there!
*All cakes consumed at the Vintage Cosmetic Company’s Press Event were consumed by my own freewill. I received a nail file and Nancy eyelashes free of charge as part of the event. All views expressed in this post are my own.*
