A First Father’s Day

I’ve got to admit that I’m not the biggest fan of Father’s Day… Having lost my own Father, I find the lead up to the day quite difficult; I hate the tens of emails from companies reminding me that it’s Father’s Day next month, next week, on Sunday, on Sunday, ON SUNDAY… and just the general advertising of the day: “Look at everyone with their dads who are ALIVE!” But this year I put my feelings to one side, and celebrated Nick being a fantastic Daddy to Busby.

I decided to create a “relaxation box” for him as he has the most important exam of his career on Tuesday, and has been going full pelt at work and at home. So here’s a look into the box!

1. Bath bomb from Lush. I asked for the most manly smelling bath bomb and was shown this one. Apparently it’s pretty funky when it dissolves, so I’m looking forward to watching that!
2. Face scrub. After eating so much chocolate last weekend for the purpose of this blog post, we’ve both come out in spots! Not great. I thought this would be good to reinvigorate Nick’s skin, and make him feel awesome for his viva.
3. Socks. We have a running joke in our family regarding Nick’s copious pairs of socks. I thought these were pretty awesome with the moustaches on, and will hopefully bring him luck on Tuesday!
4. Face mask. I love face masks as a way to relax, so thought I’d get one for Nick. I came across this one in Superdrug especially for men, and thought he’d feel more manly using this!

I wanted to get him some beer as well, but couldn’t face the hills with my bad knee – so Busby owes you a beer Nick!

Happy Father’s Day to all of the lovely dads out there!
Hannah

I’m so sorry that your dad isn’t here to celebrate and that the lead up has been tough.

The relaxation box is a brilliant idea! I hope Nick enjoys his first Fathers Day xx

Thanks Lauren – I’ve had to deal with it for the last 13 years, and the pain (and frustration) gets less and less as the years go by.

I hope he’s enjoyed himself too :) xx
