Make: Step-by-Step Family Handprint Canvas

You may have seen my Family Handprint Canvas on Sunday in my Room for Improvement post. Well, as promised here is my step-by-step tutorial of how to make a Family Handprint Canvas; it’s very easy!

Materials and equipment
Paint: We used acrylic.
A paint brush or tray: Depending on how you want to colour your hand!
A canvas: I found this square one in Tiger for £1. You can usually find them in places like WHSmiths, most stationery stores, and even Poundland.
Hot, soapy water for afterwards!

Step One
The family member with the biggest hand begins, in this case it was Nick! He chose a manly blue. Paint hand.

Step Two
Once hand is fully covered in paint, press down onto canvas.

Step Three
Et voila! One hand print! Let it dry.
Step Four
Paint the next hand! I chose pink for Mummy.
Step Five

Repeat step two.

Step Six
Let it dry.
Step Seven
Repeat steps one, two (four and five) with the smallest hand(s). I don’t have a photo of this unfortunately, as all three of us ended up coated in purple paint… and I wasn’t massively keen on my DSLR going near that!
Step Eight
And there you have it: your Family Handprint Canvas! A lovely momento for your wall.
Look at Bea’s teeny hand!

Brilliant idea. Will be doing this for father’s day in a monochrome look I think. Love it
