Welcome to “What’s in your changing bag?”; my weekly Tuesday feature where I ask one Yummy Mummy (or Daddy) to share the innermost secrets of their changing bag, and the five items they couldn’t possibly live without!
This week I’m joined by the lovely Katie from Chubs and Love.
Hi Katie! Thanks for joining “What’s in your changing bag?” today! Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m Katie, a biscuit fiend from Devon and first time Mumma to my baby girl Chubs, who was born in September last year. We live with Boyfriend, Dave the cat and Winston the naughty Patterdoodle. We are slowly muddling our way through parenthood, and renovating our retro 60’s bungalow.
Awesome – there’s so much in that paragraph that I want to ask you about! I’ve just googled “patterdoodle” – oh my word. So cute! Are they hypoallergenic?? I’m going off topic… Anyway, back to the questions! What would you say is your favourite thing about being a Mutti?
Seeing my daughter grow, learn and achieve new things. She is utterly amazing and I would be lost without her.
So after that beautiful sentence, what would you say is the hardest thing about being a Mutti?
The pressure I feel to get things ‘right’ all the time. Everyone has an opinion on what you should be doing; I find it hard not pleasing everyone and finding my own way that works for us.
What three words would you use to describe the wonder that is Motherhood?
Exhausting, rewarding, wonderful.
So exhausting! I think almost everyone picks this word – and after three nights with limited sleep I totally agree.
Finally, how do you preserve/maintain your sense of self?
Once a week Boyfriend goes out and I have a whole evening to myself. I have a lovely bubbly bath, eat some ice cream, paint my finger or toe nails and catch up on all the trash TV I have recorded on our planner. A perfect evening, just me.
Oh wow – that sounds amazing! I could do with one of those where the laptop is taken away from me too…
So, it’s business time; what make is your changing bag?
My changing bag is a Momymoo Lulu, nice and unisex but brightly coloured!
It’s very bright – I love the apple-esk print though!
What are the five items in your changing bag that you just can’t live without?
Thanks for sharing the secrets of your changing bag with us, Katie. I love the print on your wet bag – and your changing mat sounds fantastic! You can find Katie’s blog here (and she’s just gone self-hosted!). Katie also tweets as @MidwifeBrown.
Up next week: a lovely (usually anonymous) Mummy who I met last week at BritMums Live!
