What's in your Changing Bag?

What’s in your changing bag? // Katy from Modern Mummy

Welcome to week 16 of “What’s in your changing bag?”; my weekly Tuesday feature where I ask one Yummy Mummy (or Daddy) to share the innermost secrets of their changing bag, and the five items they couldn’t possibly live without!

It’s hard to believe that this is week 16! Thank you to all of the lovely ladies (I don’t mean that in a Les Mis whore way) who have contributed so far!

This week I’m joined by one of my Twitter faves, Katy from Modern Mummy. Katy and I are currently trying to get Gok Wan to give mummies everywhere some decent style advice. You can read about it here: #mummygokstyle

So Katy, before we get down to the changing bag nitty-gritty, tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hello! I’m Katy, and I’m a stay at home Mama to two insomniac daughters (Daisy, aged 3, and Evie, 7 months).  I’m addicted to green juice, passionate about home-cooked, local, seasonal and organic food, and I have a penchant for men with beards (the Other Half’s in particular!).

It’s all about the beard! Yum!
What would you say is your favourite thing about being a Mutti to your two beautiful girls?
Having two little best friends. My girls never cease to amaze me; I’m so lucky to be able to spend all my time with them, and watch them grow.

Lovely!
What would you say is the hardest thing about being a Mutti?
The sleep deprivation. I honestly think I must have caffeine running through my veins; I drink so much coffee to get me through the day!

Eek… Having two insomniacs can’t be fun…!
So, what three words would you use to describe the joy that is Motherhood?
Natural. Exhausting. Amazing!

It really is amazing, isn’t it?
Finally, how do you preserve/maintain your sense of self?
My priorities have totally changed since having kids, and lots of the things I used to love aren’t important to me anymore. I don’t feel like me when the girls aren’t around! That’s not to say that I don’t enjoy a little time out every now and again though. If I do get a few hours to myself then I am partial to a Cool & the Wise {cocktail} or two. Plus I love to write!

What’s a “Cool & the Wise”? I think we may have to find one (or two) at BritMums Live later this month…
So, I’m dying to know, what make is your changing bag?

My changing bag is a black leather Lin & Leo BabyBag.

I’ve never heard of Lin & Leo before *heads off to check out website*.
What are the five items in your gorgeous changing bag that you just can’t live without?

1. M&S Pure Wonder Balm. I honestly can’t recommend this stuff enough. It’s small, so easy to carry around, and brilliant for everything from nappy rash to cradle cap – and I’ve even been using it on my lips and to tame my unruly hair! It’s like the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream for babies.

2. Cheeky Wipes. Wipes are an essential in every changing bag, and I wouldn’t be without them! Cheeky Wipes are much more efficient at cleaning than disposables – and better for the environment too!
3. Funky Giraffe Bibs. Evie is teething so she’s super dribbly at the moment, and that means bibs are a must have in my changing bag. Funky Giraffe Bibs are my favourites; we have about forty! They have such a huge selection of designs that we have one to match each of Evie’s outfits!
4. Snacks. With two growing girls that are permanently hungry, I always carry a selection of drinks and snacks for them when we’re out and about.
5. Raybans. Sometimes even Touch Eclat can’t hide the bags under my eyes, so I am never without a pair of sunglasses (and they have to be Raybans!)

Thanks for sharing the contents of your changing bag with us, Katy. Funky Giraffe Bibs are amazing! I love the sound of the M&S Wonder Balm too. You can find Katy’s fabulous blog here. Katy also tweets as @ModernMummyUK.

Just had a quick read through over a cup of tea… My girls are all grown up now but this brought back memories! I really used to take a pride in my changing bag with my first daughter, all clean and organised with no crumbs or stray raisins, always well stocked. By the time number 3 came along it was a bit different 😉 lovely blog btw x

    That bag is gorgeous!
I love the Raybans too. Mine have been pulled around by my almost 2 year old so many times yet they have survived. Ultimate mummy sunglasses I think!
    xx

They sound great 🙂 Mine are from H&M £3.99 😉 I have a tendency to drop sunglasses or leave them places, so I don’t think I’d be trusted with Raybans! xx
