Unfortunately, I was unable to make the opening of the new HomeSense store in Brighton in July; I was very disappointed but it was unavoidable. Despite this, the kind folks at HomeSense sent me a gift card to spend in store – I couldn’t wait to visit!
I headed along to HomeSense on my baby-free day last Wednesday, and spent a good 30-45 minutes wandering around the store just looking at things.
The thing that struck me most when wandering around is that there is so much variety!
The ground floor holds seasonal items (such as picnic baskets and deck chairs) and vases – so many gorgeous vases…
The first floor is kitchen and stationery. I found this beautiful Madeleine Floyd mug for £3.99; I figured that if I have to return to work I obviously need a lovely, shiny, new mug. Obviously. Plus it was such a bargain! These mugs retail at £7.50 – and I have wanted one for ages. I was very chuffed with my find.
My favourite section had to be the stationery and craft corner of the store – I found some amazing craft paper for £7.99 a pad, and some beautiful heart stamps for £4.99, which are going to be perfect for our wedding!
I then headed upstairs to the top floor. (For those of you with prams there’s a lift.) The top floor is bedroom, bathroom and general living. I was looking for something to store Nick’s games in as I wanted to use our living room trunk for Busby’s toys. I found a fabulous navy wicker (lined) box with lid for £7.99. Bargain!
Overall, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The shop looked fantastic and everything was set out beautifully.
It (thankfully) lacked the “jumble sale” feel of TKMaxx. Although you do still have to do some rooting about, it feels much less of a task!
