Back in October we were very kindly sent a Soft Floor Kids Alphabet Mat to review. I’d seen a similar mat at our Monkey Music classes, so was looking forward to it arriving.
The mat comes in a handy zip up case and folds down to a relatively small space, which is very useful for storage.
The alphabet mat is incredibly versatile; it can be used as a mat or you can use the easy interlocking system to create boxes and tunnels. It is very colourful and attractive to young children (and adults!), and is beautifully soft to sit, kneel and play on.
What I like most about the mat is that it’s educational; at the moment Busby is a little too young for us to be properly teaching her the alphabet, but she loves touching and feeling the shapes of the letters. I can see this product becoming more and more enjoyable (and useful) as she grows and her learning increases. As you can see from the photo below, Nick was trying to teach her “Da” and “Ma”!
My only slightly negative criticism about the mat is that it’s rather large (this is entirely my fault though for picking the mat) so wouldn’t be suitable if you have a small house. Soft Floor Kids do have a whole range of sizes, so head over to their website to have a look.
We did, however, take the mat up to Yorkshire to the in-laws palatial pad last week, where it was the perfect size! We also discovered that the mat is fantastic if you have wooden floors… Oh, and that Grandad loved playing with it too!
The Soft Floor Kids Alphabet Mat costs £34.95 and is available to buy on the Soft Floor Kids website.
