Inspiration Week // Valerie’s Story
It’s the final day of Inspiration Week – thank you to everyone who has been reading and enjoying these posts, and to the wonderful women who have contributed!
This morning I’m joined by baby shop owner Valerie.
Born in Canada but raised abroad, Valerie Louvet loves to find new products that really deliver! Moving down from London to set up her own baby shop after noticing that those lovely new things she brought in were getting noticed by other mums. Her daughter Marie-Isabella (18 months) tries out all the products and constantly amazes her Mama with her little personality!
The first year of Marie-Isabella’s life was particularly difficult. She suffered from illness after illness and it was starting to affect her milk intake as well as her journey with weaning. That’s when I decided to go back to basics and start using products I knew worked because they had been on the market for ages! We even found a Finnish food brand that helped Izzy wean properly and put on weight.
This then lead me to want to give this to other mums and The Baby General Store was born!
Juggling being a single parent with a new business isn’t easy but Izzy inspires me every day to provide products that make life that little bit easier. I’ve loved sourcing baby bottles that really do prevent colic, food that’s nutritious as well as delicious, lovely hand made baby gifts from the UK and great everyday clothing brands from the USA, like Oshkosh B’gosh and Carters.
As the business grows from strength to strength I’m now introducing a line of hand made Christening outfits made with great care and love here in the UK, as well as gorgeous and unique clothing brands for children aged 18 months to 12 years.
Our online shop will be the next project for Izzy and I!

Thank you so much Valerie!
This afternoon I’m joined by a fellow freelancer!
