(I) Do // How to achieve the 1920s look for your Wedding Day

Gosh this wedding planning malarkey takes up a lot of time doesn’t it? And that’s just my evenings spent “researching” on Pinterest!

Everything feels like it’s coming together. Finally! We’ve decided on the suits so all of our men-folk just have to pop into their nearest store for an inside leg measurement.

Ooh, matron!

We have a DJ!

Aaand most importantly I now have my wedding shoes! They were the last mint pair in the whole company… Phew!

So, as you all know I have an original 1920s gown to wear on our wedding day (you can read about it here), and our theme is firmly rooted in 1920s England. I realised the other day that Jeeves and Wooster is based in 1920s England, which made me rather happy!

I also learnt another fact about Jeeves and Wooster which I can’t share with you yet… In fact, I can’t share it with you unless we have a boy as one of our future children… and if we don’t ever have a boy, then you will all be shrouded in mystery forever! Mwhahaha and all that jazz…

Anyway, here’s my guide to achieving the 1920s Bridal look for your Big Day!

The Dress. Layers of lace and silk. Calf/ankle-length. Usually with cap or long sleeves. // Shoes. Small heel. Pointed Mary-Janes/Court shoes with t-bar. // Underwear. Silk slips and silk pants!
Hair. Short, bob hair – finger waved (also known as, “Marcel curls”).  // Veil. Long (often floor length) and cap-esque. // Jewellery. Layered pearls and lots of sparkle. Art deco designs. // Make-up. Emphasis on the eyes.

I’ve got so many more ideas on my Pinterest boards, so head over for a gander!

AH I cannot wait to see your full outfit 🙂 You must be getting so excited! Are you going for a veil? I’m thinking about it just because it is the ONLY chance I will ever get! But I don’t know entirely what I think?
