What’s in your changing bag? // Donna from Red Head Baby Led
Hello and welcome to “What’s in your changing bag?”; my weekly Tuesday feature where I ask one Yummy Mummy (or Daddy) to share the innermost secrets of their changing bag, and the five items they couldn’t possibly live without!
This week I’m joined by lovely Donna from Red Head Baby Led!
Hi Donna! What a lovely photo!
Please can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hi, I’m Donna, Mummy to Athena, 2 and Troy, 1. I’m still on maternity leave from my job as a bank manager so spend most of my time running around after the kids and blogging! I love my bed, Hollyoaks and all things chocolate!
Ooh, fellow Hollyoaks fan here (for my sins)!
What is your favourite thing about being a Mama?
The cuddles. There is nothing quite like having your child on your lap giving you a cuddle. It’s something that would be so easy to take for granted, yet every time Athena or Troy give me cuddles I really try to appreciate them – cuddles are the best!
Cuddles really are the best!
What would you say is the hardest thing about being a Mama?
When they’re both poorly at the same time and you can’t physically comfort them both. Having poorly children is awful anyway, but when they’re ill at the same time it’s just one whole step harder.
Gosh, that does sound difficult.
What three words would you use to describe Motherhood?
Amazing, rewarding and a privilege.
How does you preserve/maintain your sense of self?
Pretty much my whole life is now dedicated to being a Mummy, but everyone needs to have time to be them too. Blogging is my one hobby, the one real thing that I do for me and it helps to give me something that isn’t just about the kids. Going to blogging events also gives me ‘me time’ and helps me to talk to other bloggers and be myself for a while, rather than being Mummy!
So, the last question before we find out about your changing bag; if you could share one piece of Motherhoodly wisdom with us all, what would it be?
Trust your instincts. Everyone has a way of doing things and everyone will have advice. Listen to it and then do what you think is best.
It’s business time; what make is your changing bag?
JJ Cole Metra Change Bag.
Ooh – I’ve never heard of this brand before.
What are the five items in your changing bag that you just can’t live without?
Aside from nappies, wipes and nappy bags I can’t live without:
1. Snacks. They keep the children happy in every situation. Not just for the hunger factor but they’re a great boredom reliever too!
2. Spare clothes. Even with LP being nearly three and out of nappies we always have a spare set of clothes with us for her, as well as her brother – potty training accidents, mud or food!
3. Bibs. We often eat out at little notice and both children will happily eat with their hands but we always need bibs!
4. Calpol/Nurofen. A necessity when we’re going through teething hell.
5. LP’s toy dog. He comes everywhere with us!
Thanks for sharing the contents of your changing bag with us, Donna! I love the toy dog!
