Busby has been rather the poorly the last few days; it started with a rash and, well, it continues with a rash! I initially thought it was Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease, and then, as the the spots grew in size, terror washed over me as I thought she had contracted the pox of a poultry persuasion. However, I’ve returned back to my original diagnosis of HFMD, and I’m hoping that I don’t contract it again, as regular readers will remember how ill I was with it back in February…
Anyway, there has been a silver, fluffy lining out of Busby’s rash situation (although my credit card and Nick may think differently); we have had to start using cloth nappies. Without horrifying her too much when she reads this back as a teenager, Busby’s bottom has been rather sore and our regular disposable nappies are too scratchy and unnatural on her poor skin.
After running into Lewes yesterday in search of cloth nappies, trying not to bump into anyone I knew with children (that failed miserably) in case I spread what I thought was the pox, I couldn’t find one for sale! In a town that is supposed to be eco-conscious and full of “Earth Mothers” I was quite disappointed, but luckily Mutti managed to source some in her village from their rather lovely children’s boutique.
I’ve been wanting to try cloth nappies for a while now, but we live in a house with limited space, which means drying laundry in winter is a bit of a pain… Also, I’m not sure Nick is massively keen on the idea – he’s not as comfortable with Busby’s poo as I am.
My eyes have been opened. After a whole 24 hours of cloth I’m most definitely a convert – I even have a Pinterest board, and we all know that means serious business.
1. Incy Wincy from TotsBots (Busby’s favourite Nursery rhyme) // 2. London Calling from Bambino Mio (My girl loves a bus!) // 3. Albert from Bumgenius (This is a pick for Nick – it’s covered in science) // 4. Skull and cross bones from Baba + Boo (Something a little different and punky) // 5. Mysterious Owls from Milovia (We love owls!)
Do you have a favourite cloth nappy “brand”? Let me know so I can continue my obsession!
