Pregnant with a Peppercorn // 7 weeks pregnant
This week has been traumatic – I’ve discovered that I can no longer drink tea; the thought of it makes me retch… sob! Tea is my life source, so I’m not entirely sure how I’m going to survive without it. Strong smells are also really getting to me: coffee, public toilets, Nick making chicken stock. Bleurgh!
This week Baby Peppercorn is the size of a blueberry! His hands and feet are developing from his little arms and legs… and he has a mini tail.
This week I’ve been craving fridge-cold green grapes, salt (anchovies, feta, bacon) and anything carbilicious; I’ve eaten my way through a fair few Forfars cheese straws (they are the best), and I seem to be having two lunches a day – one involves bread, the other pasta or gnocchi. The people of Forfars have deemed me a regular in the past week… I’m not sure whether that’s a good thing or not? At least they don’t know my name…yet!
My blood sugars are all over the place, and I’ve found myself getting very dizzy at times. I’m also developing a really nasty, sour taste in my mouth every few hours – and I’m finding that I’m brushing my teeth at least 3-4 times a day now! Eating something strong also helps get rid of the taste for a short amount of time. I remember experiencing something similar when I was pregnant with Busby; apparently it’s called “Dysgeusia”, and it’s to do with delightful hormones changing your taste buds. Hopefully it should go when I reach 12 weeks!
I’ve also developed a mini bump this week! It’s meant that I’ve had to start buying some essential maternity wear (tights and leggings) to keep me comfortable. I’m very excited that I already have a bump, as I was about 16 weeks pregnant with Busby when her bump first started to show! Starting to show so early certainly makes it feel real!
