What do you think of when you hear the words Dream Bed? A king size beast made of iron with shiny brass knobs, and a thick cosy duvet and plump cushions? A day bed swathed in homemade quilts and adorned with colourful cushions? Or perhaps you tap into your childhood fantasies and imagine a cabin bed, complete with slide and adjoining ball pit?
My dream bed would take the term “bedroom” literally and the mattress would be built into the floor. The bed would have lots of covers dotted around; thick duvets and quilts to snuggle up with. An assortment of cushions and pillows to prop myself up with when reading in bed, or to create nests out of for our family on a Saturday morning when we don’t want to leave the comfort of the room, and where we can read books, newspapers, watch TV and eat croissants all day long. I guess it would also be self-cleaning!
Silentnight are asking children to design their dream bed, and I thought this would be a fun and crafty activity to do with Busby!
When I asked Busby what she would like on her dream bed, she said:
– “Weeeeee down” (a slide)
– “Books” (somewhere to keep her beloved bedtime reads)
– “Du-day” (Busby can’t pronounce duvet yet – but she’d like a cosy duvet)
So we started drawing, and painting!
After an hour or so of painting and colouring, we had a few versions!
