Review // Handmade for Baby by Charlotte Rivers & Emily Gregory
When I was pregnant with Busby I went through a serious nesting and crafting phase, where I made her lots of lovely things for her new Nursery. This time round we have a whole house to decorate and I’ve been a bit overwhelmed, so I was very happy when Handmade for Baby by Charlotte Rivers and Emily Gregory popped through our letterbox!
Handmade for Baby is jam-packed full of inspirational ideas and crafting tutorials for your impending bundle of squidge! It’s a bit like a physical Pinterest board; and I can spend a good naptime flicking through it, with a cup of tea and piece of cake (of course), just taking in the beautiful images and deciding what I’m going to make Peppercorn next.
The book is split into five chapters:
1. Announcements and Nursery decorations
2. Preparing for Arrival
3. Welcoming the Baby
4. One month old
5. First Birthday
Each chapter has between 4-6 tutorials in it and ends with an Inspirational Gallery, which is a collection of beautiful images from crafters around the world.
Each tutorial is written in a step-by-step guide, and is easy to follow. There are resources in the back of the book in case you are unsure about certain phrases, knitting techniques or abbreviations, which makes the book ideal for a beginner-intermediate crafter. The book also contains patterns, and QR codes for patterns online.
My sewing machine is currently packed away until we move into our new house, but I’ve already compiled a list of projects I’d like to get stuck into before Peppercorn arrives! The Baby Harems look wonderful, and they are something I’ve wanted to try for a while now, so I’m going to have a go at those, as well as the personalised cushion – which just looks beautiful!
Handmade for Baby by Charlotte Rivers and Emily Gregory is a gorgeous book that would make an ideal gift for anyone who loves crafting. It retails at £12.99 and is available to buy on Amazon.
