Siblings // September 2015

siblings septemberIndy has become much more alert and active over the past month. He takes notice of everything and watches everyone intently. His favourite person (other than the Milk Machine aka me) is most definitely Busby; his eyes following her in fascination wherever she goes. He’s beginning to grab objects now, and seems to be intent on going for her golden locks, which she thinks is hilarious and encourages it by putting her head of hair in his face.

Busby still isn’t quite sure about Indy. She climbs on my lap, or hugs my legs, whenever I’m not holding him and says: “I love you Mummy”. I know she misses our 1-to-1 time, as I do. Indy’s velcro-ness is beginning to wane slightly, so I have been able to spend more time with her this month; we’ve had some lovely afternoons crafting while Indy has slept in the Papoozle, and the occasional breakfast or cake stop while he’s slept upstairs.

Busby is not very careful around him, in her toddler-bullish manner, and we’ve had a couple of close calls where she’s nearly fallen on him while one of us is in the middle of changing his nappy… She does give him a lovely night time kiss and cuddle most evenings, however, and enjoys helping me bathe him.

Indy is very eager to sit up, although he can’t actually get up himself nor can he sit for more than a few seconds unless propped up… but Busby has taken this to mean that he will soon be ready for games! She took his hand in hers the other day and said “Come on Indy, let’s go for a walk! Follow me!” expecting him to be able to get and up go with her; absolutely heart melting and it makes me feel so excited for their future as brother and sister!

Aww bless her. It must be so hard to be told you’re having a brother or sister and then be presented with a little bundle of joy that just can’t do anything for a while. And I think when you are the eldest and you’re used to the complete dedicated attention of both parents it must be very odd! But it’s lovely to see how much she adores him, and give it a few months …..!

Awww what a lovely photo. I remember when my daughter was born, she used to love watching her big brother, who was also a toddler at the time. She did things a lot quicker in terms of milestones and I think it was because she had her brother to copy from. It’s hard when a new baby comes along, trying to divide your time but it sounds like you are doing a great job.

Ahhh imagine having Mummy all to yourself and then baby arrives! Bless. I am sure it will all adjust soon when you aren’t so attached to Indy. Having twins, I felt a constant source of guilt whenever one wanted me and the other would then ‘play up’…it still happens now! You’re doing great and I hope you are getting a bit more sleep xxxx

Aww they look so cute together. It is so hard though, I thought having one baby was hard but this is another level! Toby seems to have a similar attitude to his brother – one minute he gives him lovely kisses but the next he’s nearly kicking him in the head as he plays next to him! I just keep thinking of the future and how much fun they’re going to have together in a few more months.

It’s just so adorable watching the sibling bond form, isn’t it!! Lena is the only one who can make Marni cackle giggle. I love that. I love that they will have each other. I’m excited about Marni crawling (and obviously very nervous at the same time) just to watch her follow Lena around. She’s totally going to be her shadow!! x

I can’t believe Indy is already 12 weeks old, how did that happen so quickly? He looks so comfy in her arms and I’m glad you’re getting some of your 1 on 1 time back again. Thats the thing I worry about with Z, how he’ll manage and how I’ll be able to give him the same amount of attention.
