I wasn’t planning on writing this post, but rather excitedly I’ve been nominated for a number of MAD (Mum And Dad) Blog Awards over the past few days, and I realised that some of you who read Make, Do & Push! might not know about these awards.
The MADS are akin to the Oscars for Parent Bloggers, and Awards Shortlisters are invited to attend a rather swanky reception (usually with Dr Ranj from CBeebies) in London to wear clothes that won’t be snotted on, eat delicious food, get rather sloshed, and celebrate all that is wonderful about the land of blogging.
So my lovely readers (I’m buttering you up here) I would be ever-so thankful if you could nominate me a few more times so that I might be in with a chance of attending the MAD Blog Awards evening.
I don’t qualify for them all, such as the New Blog award because I’ve been doing this for almost four years now! But there are some awards that I do qualify for, such as Best Baby Blog, Best Pre-school Blog, and Best Writer.
I’ve got a few post links below that I think demonstrate why I should be nominate for each of these categories:
Why Best Baby Blog?
I’ve been blogging about H-Bear since he was the size of a seed, and continue to do so now he’s in the world. I’ve blogged about his amazing, empowering home birth, I write monthly updates (which I always publish at 2.31pm on the 23rd of each month, as that was the time and day of the month he was born) and I’ve written about everything from the realities of breastfeeding to powering up to super-glue baby status.
Why Best Pre-school Blog?
My other munchkin, Busby, is now a pre-schooler *sob*. Busby is the reason I started the blog, and will always be the original blog baby! Although I no longer write monthly updates for her, I continue to document her development and adventures in My Wild Ones photo project every week. She also stars in a number of our What the Children Wore posts, as well as Pre-school related reviews, such as this one for LeapPad and this adorable video for Cosatto!
Why Best Writer?
I was a little bit shocked to have been nominated for this, but I had a chat with Nick (who isn’t at all biased *cough*) and he brought a few posts to my attention that may have gained me the nomination.
I have a ever-growing collection of poems, which you can find here, but We Left the House has proved very popular – and seems to be a big hit whenever I share. It was picked up by NetMums too, who shared it on their website. My poem about the return of my periods postpartum: Hello! I’m… back! made it onto the Mumsnet Front Page with a rather graphic photo!!!
I’ve written very honestly here about suffering from Social Anxiety Disorder, which also made it onto the Mumsnet Front Page.
There are a few more posts such as my Jamie Oliver breastfeeding post, 10 things I wish someone had told me about postpartum life, and 20 things I’ve learnt about chronic sleep deprivation, which have proved popular too…
So… I don’t want to beg, as it’s not very becoming of a lady to beg, but if you fancy nominating me for any of the above I would be so very grateful! I put so many hours into my blog every week, and to be recognised for this would be amazing!
Thank you so much! If I make it to the awards ceremony, I shall Instagram every drunken moment and probably live tweet the entire thing! I will also repay your kindness in MORE adorable photos of H-Bear in animal costumes…
