Many years ago, when I was slightly older than Busby, I would sit in front of the television, absolutely enthralled by some of my favourite Beatrix Potter stories brought to life on video. These animations have stuck with me throughout my life, and I was overjoyed when we visited Beatrix Potter’s house – Hill Top Farm – a couple of years ago, as that is where the beginning of each episode was filmed.
We were offered these gorgeous animations on DVD to review, and I couldn’t wait to share a part of my childhood with Busby and H-Bear.
The animations are so very true to Beatrix Potter’s own drawings, and are simply stunning. I find myself yearning to be in the Lake District when watching them!
The triple DVD boxset includes the following 9 beautifully animated stories based on the Peter Rabbit Books by Beatrix Potter:-
The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends:
The Tale of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny, The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies and Mrs. Tittlemouse, and The Tale of Tom Kitten and Jemima Puddle-Duck
The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle and Mr. Jeremy Fisher and other stories:
The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle and Mr. Jeremy Fisher, The Tale of Mr Tod: The Further Adventures of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny, and The Tale of Two Bad Mice and Johnny Town-Mouse
The Tale of Pigling Bland and other stories:
The Tale of Pigling Bland, The Tale of Samuel Whiskers or The Roly-Poly Pudding and The Tailor of Gloucester
Busby adores them as much as I do, and with a running time of over three hours, they’re perfect for a rainy afternoon! They’d also make an ideal non-chocolatey Easter gift.
