Interiors // My Bedroom Wish List

my bedroom wish list Our bedroom is one of those very neglected spaces in our house. It’s the dumping ground for all of our clean laundry. It’s still full of boxes, despite the fact we’ve lived in the house for over a year now. And one wall is entirely made up of horrible, beige built-in wardrobes that we’ve been meaning to paint since we moved in… I mean, they’re incredibly useful, but not pretty in the slightest! Is it any wonder our bedroom never features on my Instagram feed??

I’ve been compiling a wish list for our bedroom since we bought the house; I want to turn the room into a grown up space (I’ll refrain from using the word ‘adult’… Ooh, matron!) that we can relax in, snooze in and that is semi-child-free.

Mattress

We are desperately in need of a new mattress as ours is rather uncomfortable and, to be quite honest, is ready for the dump! I’ve been looking at these mattresses over on Fishpools website, which all sound divine compared to ours… Or we could really splash out on a Tempur mattress! Oh, one can dream! I think our next big house purchase will have to be a new mattress, as well as a…

Bed frame

We’ve had our bed frame for almost six years now, and it’s been through four house moves, one incredibly damp house, and two pregnancies… I think it’s probably time for it’s retirement! Nick’s parents have this amazing low bed frame, which I’m quite taken by as it’s so easy for the kids to climb up for cuddles. Alternatively, I’ve had my eye on a metal frame.

I’m also keen to upgrade to a king size as we often have a small, sweaty bed guest in the night and it would be lovely not to have to relegate Nick to the sofa bed downstairs! Also, weekend family snuggles would be a little bit more comfortable in a larger bed… Four in the bed is a bit of a squeeze!

Mirror

Ah, mirrors! I love mirrors, but we don’t really have many of them in our house for some reason. Our bedroom could do with a big, beautiful full length mirror on show (we have one squirrelled away in a wardrobe which is very unflattering) and I can just imagine the kids and I throwing some poses in front of it.

Bedding

Oh, glorious bedding! I have a bit of an obsession with beautiful bedding. I think it’s because there really is nothing better than getting into freshly laundered sheets after a relaxing, hot bath… These sets are from ASDA (I know!?!) – perfect for getting cosy this autumn:

Ooh I’d love a new bed frame too with room for storage underneath. I’ve seen a lovely white wooden one. I’d also love new bedding from Next. They have lovely colours and they wash really well. My bedroom would look better even if it was more tidy. I don’t think I’ve ever been this messy!

You’ve got some great ideas and given me some inspo for my forthcoming renovation!

Since putting a deposit down on a plot recently I’m constantly dreaming of how I’m going to decorate each room etc. I too love bedding from Asda, they really do know how to make beautiful bedding.
