Once upon a time in a forest… there was a young girl in a tutu and superhero mask, who just wanted to eat the chocolate cake!

Happy National Storytelling Week! This week (28th January-4th February 2017) is the 17th annual National Storytelling Week, run by the Society of Storytelling, which was started to encourage storytelling amongst groups and in communities.

To coincide with this week, Center Parcs have announced that they are creating the first community-generated “Twitter Story” on Wednesday 1st February 2017.

“What is a Twitter Story?” I hear you cry. Well, it’s similar to a very big game of Consequences… and Center Parcs need your help! They’d love you to join in and contribute a line to the story via Twitter to make it the ultimate Twitter Story.

You will need to tweet @CenterParcsUK and use the hashtag #YouTelltheStory. You can join in from 10am.

The story will unveil live on Twitter throughout the day, and Center Parcs have a team of copywriters and illustrators on hand to bring it to life. The story will then be uploaded to Storify, and the full version will be available to download to share with your family and friends.

Center Parcs sent us some storytelling goodies to inspire us and get us in the mood for tomorrow. The children have had lots of fun playing with the masks, and creating characters.

I’m sure these will help to influence the story tomorrow.

It’s such a lovely unique idea to celebrate National Storytelling Week! I will definitely be contributing a tweet or two! Will you join in? Let me know!
