What the Children Wore // Snapshots of Tootsa SS17
Tootsa are one of my favourite childrenswear brands. They don’t have a designated girls and boys section on their website (which makes my heart sing with progressive unisex childrenswear happiness). Their clothes are alway so beautiful and boldly designed. And everything is ethically made!
A few weeks ago we were very kindly sent a number of clothes for the children, which you’ve no doubt seen ALL over my Instagram feed. In fact, they sent so many clothes that not all of them are featured in this post so I’m already looking forward to the follow up post in a couple of weeks!
The one garment that really stands out for me in this collection is this stunning Rio Negra smock dress. Busby absolutely adores it – as do I. Everyone we meet comments on how beautiful it is.
The dress is made from 100% woven polyester, which surprises me as it’s so soft and comfortable to wear.
The dress really is the most beautiful, vibrant thing she’s ever owned. All of the colours compliment each other, and every time she wears it (which is A LOT) I find myself saying “I want one in my size”! It fastens with coordinating buttons at the back, which really finish the dress off.
She wears age 5-6 years, which fits perfectly, so I definitely recommend sizing up. Having worn it continuously too, you’ll be pleased to know that it washes well.
The Rio Negra smock dress is currently in the Tootsa sale for the bargain price of £17! Sadly they’ve already sold out of the next few sizes – otherwise I would definitely be snapping them up so she can carry on wearing this stunning dress for years to come.
The rainforest collection has been one of my favourites of Tootsa’s so far. I love how bright – and at times, clashing – each pattern is. Busby and H-Bear were sent a sweatshirt each, and once again, these have become favourites in their wardrobes.
Busby wears the Jivaro ‘Birds of a Feather’ sweater and H-Bear is in the Jivaro ‘Toucan’ sweater (both £16.50 in the sale).
The sweaters are made from 100% organic cotton and are mid-weight, making them ideal for cooler summer days – even continuing into autumn with layers! (To be honest, I’ll probably put the children in them in winter as well to brighten up the day!)
Busby’s sweater is adorned with various birds, and I love the different pops of colour on the coral base.
The denim Manatee shorts above are also from Tootsa (only £12.50 in the sale now!), and she has worn these pretty much continuously through the warm spells.
I’ve loved clashing Busby’s sweater even further with her gorgeous Bear & Babe seagull skirt!
H-Bear’s Jivaro sweater is a lovely soft periwinkle shade, adorned with toucans.
I always think he looks delicious when he wears it – the shade suits him so well, and the sweatshirt has such a playfulness about it.
The pops of red from the toucans bills really make the sweater stand out – and (as with everything else from this collection) we’ve had lots of lovely comments out and about when he’s been wearing it.
Back to Busby’s denim Manatee shorts, as I said above, she’s worn them almost daily over the hot spells we’ve had. They’re so comfy and wash incredibly well.
In this photo above, the shorts are teamed with the gorgeous Rio Yarn Dyed Stripe tee in periwinkle (in the sale for £12). We have a thing about sloths in our family, so as soon as I saw this, I knew it would be perfect for Busby (and H-Bear when he’s big enough).
The last garment for H-Bear in this post is the Chuva cotton knit cardigan (£19 in the sale).
I love dressing H in cardigans because he always looks so cute (plus if you team them with a triangle dribble bib, it looks like he’s wearing a cravat, which is all kinds of happy). This cardigan is so bright and vibrant, with a pattern of colourful raindrops and a cute embroidered frog.
The contrasting trim and cuffs make the cardigan so different – they’re so fun!
So, last but by no means least, we have Busby’s divine Choupinette striped knit jumper (£35). The embroidered sausage dog on the back of the jumper had me squealing in excitement! Isn’t it a gorgeous, fun addition to an already beautiful jumper?
It’s very cosy – so perfect for cooler days and evenings, and going into autumn and winter!
I love the nautical feel to this jumper. It’s very versatile, and goes with so many things in Busby’s wardrobe.
In these photos, H-Bear wears age 2-3 years and Busby wears age 5-6 years, so I do recommend sizing up in Tootsa.
All of the above clothes can be found on the Tootsa website and many of them are in their amazing sale, so pop on over now to grab yourself a bargain!
