Lovely Things // A very special necklace from Posh Totty Designs
A few weeks ago, I received a lovely email from the folk at Posh Totty Designs asking me whether I would like to receive one of their beautiful personalised ‘My Favourite Drawing’ oval disc necklaces.
Posh Totty Designs is based in my home city of Brighton, and they have three shops in the city and one in London. The company was started by Alice Rivers Cripps in 2004, after returning home from Mexico where she’d been living and learning the basics of jewellery making. She was so inspired when she got back that she continued to teach herself the trade, and experiment with new ideas.
Fast forward to now, and Posh Totty Designs is a destination company for personalised items, with a host of celebrity customers. They also employ a predominantly female team of fifty staff, and run the largest jewellery workshop in the South!
Busby is a very creative child; she gets through reams of paper a week (at home and at school), so I LOVED the idea of turning one of her pictures into something more permanent that I could keep forever.
The idea was that Busby would draw anything she liked, and then the makers at Posh Totty Designs would turn it into a keepsake. So I bought Busby some new glitter pens for the occasion, and my creative little lady set about drawing me something wonderful.
We had a few things set out on the table to help her imagination (not that it really needs much help!). She drew a lion, a mermaid, and a pineapple, but my favourite drawing was this flower, which reminded me slightly of a fried egg.
We scanned the image in and sent it off to Posh Totty Designs HQ. I then had to choose the metal and chain length/thickness.
There are three different metal types available for the oval necklace (£45):
- Sterling Silver
- 9ct Rose Gold plated (+ £20)
- 9ct Gold plated (+ £20)
And four different chain lengths:
- 18″ standard
- 24″ standard (+ £7)
- 18″ thicker (+ £10)
- 24″ thicker (+ £14)
I opted for rose gold with the standard 18″ chain, which is a beautiful colour and has a wonderfully thin chain.
The makers in the Posh Totty Designs workshop worked their magic and swiftly despatched the most marvellous necklace. Isn’t it incredible?
I’m so happy with it (as is Busby – who wanted to wear it for these photos)!
The metal is so tactile and smooth. It’s a delight to wear and I keep catching myself in the mirror and smiling at it.
The whole process – from drawing to the necklace arriving – has been so easy. The team at Posh Totty Designs were always on hand to answer any questions.
I’m a sucker for pretty packaging, and Posh Totty Designs really don’t disappoint; the packaging is just beautiful.
Prices for the personalised ‘My Favourite Drawing’ oval disc necklace start at £45, and I can’t recommend Posh Totty Designs enough. What a wonderful way to capture a drawing that I love; a snippet of Busby’s childhood that I will never forget.
