My First Mother's Day! |
Being a new mummy, I see how hard it must have been for my own Mutti to bring us up on her own after my Father sadly passed away 13 years ago. Pre-Busby I never really dwelled on how she must have felt not having someone there with her, supporting her. The daily struggle with a 12 year old and a 10 year old, whilst dealing with the grief of losing the man she loved. How difficult it must have been during our teenage years being screamed at, and not having anyone to turn to, to rub her shoulders after an awkward-child/teen day, to run her a bath and pour her a glass of wine after a shouting-match. How worrying and heart-breaking it must have been to experience my brother and I's breakdowns, and not be able to take that hurt and frustration out on anyone but herself. Even how sad it must be at times when she has wanted (and wants) to share our achievements and success with him. It's only now that I have become a fellow mother, that I realise how awful it must have been for her (and still is), even in the most positive of situations. So thank you Mutti: Thank you for all the love, the support and assistance over the past 25 years of my life, and in particular the last 13. I don't know how you've done it! I love you.
Happy Mother's Day to all the lovely Muttis out there. I hope you've all been thoroughly spoilt; we deserve today!
