Welcome to “What’s in your changing bag?”; my weekly Tuesday feature where I ask one Yummy Mummy (or Daddy) to share the innermost secrets of their changing bag, and the five items they couldn’t possibly live without!
This week I’m joined by the lovely Emma from Born in 2011.
Hi Emma – what a lovely photo! Please can you tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m Emma, wife to Chris and mummy to Joni born in February 2011 and Wilbur, September 2012. I run a small charity that I started when Wilbs was 12 weeks old and we moved away from London to live within 20 minutes of the majority of our families. I’m unlikely to ever refuse a glass of prosecco.
I hear you on the prosecco!
What would you say is your favourite thing about being a Mutti?
Motherhood has empowered me to do things I would never have done pre-babies; I have so much more confidence now.
What would you say is the hardest thing?
LACK. OF. SLEEP. The relentless lack of sleep!
What three words would you use to describe Motherhood?
Magnificent, empowering, exhausting.
How do you preserve/maintain your sense of self?
I play netball – it’s brilliant to exercise, socialise and have head space that is completely unrelated to motherhood and home.
Excellent – that sounds ideal.
So the last question, before we find out about your changing bag; if you could share one piece of Motherhoodly wisdom with us all what would it be?
‘The days are long but the years are short’ I don’t know who said it but I’m already realising it’s true. Parenting is a rollercoaster – I try and remember this in the good and the not-so good times.
Gosh that’s so true – life goes so quickly these days…
It’s business time: what make is your changing bag?
My changing bag is from Cath Kidston but it’s not specifically a changing bag – I decided to go for a back pack when Wilbur was born, I needed practicality with two under two!
It’s lovely! I love a bit of Cath!
