Review: Wooden Abacus from My 1st Years

When My 1st Years asked us whether we’d like to review anything from their lovely selection of gifts I was immediately drawn to their baby clothes range. Unfortunately the hooded baby robe we loved was unavailable in her size, so I perused the website a little while longer.

Busby has recently taken an interest in counting, so when I came across the Wooden Abacus I thought this would be the perfect gift for her! (Nick was also rather excited about it.)

The Abacus arrived in a gorgeous, Tiffany-blue box, beautifully wrapped in tissue paper. I’m a sucker for fabulous packaging, and this certainly didn’t disappoint.

The abacus itself is lovely; it is handcrafted from pine and is beautifully colourful, with different coloured wooden beads and a white frame. It’s an item that is feels lovely, and one can tell it’s fantastic quality.

The abacus can be personalised, but I decided not to opt for this as would like it be an educational toy that all of the (future) family will be able to use.

Busby loves the abacus. She hasn’t started using it for its actual purpose yet (much to Nick’s disappointment!) but she loved the bright colours and thinks it makes the perfect musical instrument!

The Wooden Abacus costs £18 and is available to buy on the My 1st Years website. My 1st Years have an array of gorgeous baby gifts available – there’s definitely something for everyone!

It looks really bright and colourful, such a classic toy, we have one that has alphabet squares on the other side, my youngest loves doing her alphabet so this has come in really handy
