Beatrix Potter is one of my favourite writers of all time. My childhood memories are peppered with her stories and unique illustrations. I have wanted to visit Beatrix Potter’s house “Hill Top Farm” for a number of years now, but our last visit to the Lake District was rather short, so we never found the time. It only seemed appropriate to visit this year, with Busby in tow!
This is the beautiful walk to Hill Top Farm. You can see how Beatrix was inspired by her surroundings! The landscape is breathtaking, and my photos in no way do it justice, but here’s a little slice of our adventure to her house (and a few photos after).
We caught the boat from Ambleside to Bowness, and then another from Bowness to the Far Sawrey ferry pier. It was Busby’s first time on a boat (we caught four in total that day) and she fared well!
This was the amazing view from the top of the hill.
And these were the cows!
There was a beautiful sea of bluebells.
I know the perspective is a little funny in this one, but I really like it.
Back at the pier, waiting for the boat to arrive.
I’ll be posting about Beatrix’s house in a couple of days – I feel Hill Top Farm deserves it’s own post.
Can we just move to the Lakes now please?
