Make, Do and List // Week One

I’ve been wanting to join in with lovely Hannah’s Mums’ List linky for a while now, so here is the first instalment of Make, Do and List. As a list addict I’m looking forward to writing this weekly!

Our honeymoon! We’re off to the beautiful Lake District for one week of time alone, just the two of us. We’ve booked a few Michelin starred restaurants and an amazing 5* self-catering lodge for a few nights as well. I cannot wait! I have to sort out my honeymoon wardrobe now… Wellies!

I’ve managed to get through two books over the last week. Both have made me a little sad.

The Fault in Our Stars was fantastic but it had me sobbing in the bath! I’d definitely recommend it, but not if your emotional state is compromised (i.e. if you’re organising a wedding or if you’re pregnant) It’s about two teenage cancer sufferers and their adventures together. John Green really knows how to create characters that can make you laugh, cry and laugh AND cry simultaneously! I’m definitely going to be ordering a few more of his novels.

I’ve also been reading Bridget Jones: Mad about the Boy. I’ve found it quite a challenging read – not in terms of reading level, but emotionally. The loss of Mark Darcy, and Bridget having to bring up her two children on her own, really resonated with me. It was a good read, but I’ve got to admit I did miss Mark quite a lot! It also felt a bit like Helen Fielding was trying to be too clever with “Social Media Bridget” and many scenes felt staged in preparation for the film.

My favourite accessory from the past week has been my beautiful necklace from lovely Fritha’s shop! Isn’t it gorgeous? Busby has also loved it, and has enjoyed wearing it whilst strutting around proclaiming that she is “Mummy”.

Nick and I managed to watch the entire series of Utopia over the past week. It was awesome, but definitely got me thinking about dystopian worlds, and how our country is certainly heading towards a similar politically compromised environment (we might already be there to be honest).

Cloth nappies! Since Busby’s rash situation I have become a little bit obsessed with fluffy bottoms and all of the beautiful designs.

We’re now the proud owners of 6 cloth nappies and can’t wait to continue adding more to our collection!

I need to take a leaf or two from your book. Speaking of books – 2? In one week? I’ve not managed to finish even 1 fiction book from my reading list yet! I need to get on it!!
