The Week That Was: Captured #56

Hello! Hello! How are you? Welcome to The Week That Was: Captured!

Have you all had a fab week? Massive congratulations to our regular linker-uper Chelle (Unique and Chic) on the birth of her beautiful little boy! Oh, and it’s exactly two months until our wedding!!!

The rules are simple; link up one post about your week! It can be photographed, Instagrammed, written, videoed… basically in any format you wish! This linky is about capturing memories and I treat it a bit like an online diary. Please only link up relevant posts. Also, if you fancy commenting on other people’s posts that would be super too – everyone loves a comment!

Last week
I loved the cupcake photos from Debs (Super Busy Mum) last week – they made me super hungry! Also, the tale of her daughter telling off Iron Man was hilarious. Anything featuring a horse will win me over immediately, so I adored Aby’s (You Baby Me Mummy) photos of Baby riding! I think I may have to take Busby soon… Suzanne’s (3 Children and It) post about her daughter’s piano exam certainly brought back some memories! I loved reading about her more relaxed week.

Our week
Well, I survived my first weekend of solo parenting! Hurrah! I actually really enjoyed it, so won’t be as nervous next time. On the whole it has been a lovely week; Busby has mostly been in good spirits and I’ve really enjoyed having Nick home.

On Saturday Busby and I headed over to Lindfield to spend the afternoon with Mutti. Busby had a lovely time in the paddling pool and was thoroughly exhausted by the end of the day.

Busby and I had a relaxed day on Sunday; we went out for a lunch date as the fridge was pretty bare, and shared a ham and cheese panini (I’ve been craving them ever since reading the new Bridget Jones!) and then headed to the park for a play. Nick arrived home in the evening, slightly tinted in orange from where his friends had painted him for his Oompa Loompa costume on Saturday night!

I had really been looking forward to Monday for months! It was the day of my Bridal hair and make-up trial! I had a great day with Nicky from Pretty Pout, and she made all three of us up beautifully. I’ve got three hair styles to choose from for the Big Day, but I’m fairly certain which one I’ll go for.

Tuesday was my working day, but I was up quite early, so managed to get almost everything finished by about 10am! I headed in Brighton for my monthly skill swap massage and then Nick and I met for lunch, and had a paddle in the sea. Bliss!

We headed to Saltdean beach on Wednesday for a dip in the sea with Mutti and my Grandpa. It was very hot!

I woke up feeling quite poorly on Thursday so I had to cancel my plans to go to London. I spent the afternoon curled up in bed watching a film instead. I realised that since starting my blog almost 2 years ago I don’t do this anymore – I’m starting to wonder whether I need to step away from it all for a bit, so I can remember what it’s like to relax and not be constantly “on”.

We had our usual Monkey Music class on Friday morning (the last one of the term – waah!). Then Busby and I went for a play date picnic with some friends. Sadly her play date slept the whole way through, which meant that I had no one to distract Busby from the ice cream hatch! Nick’s parents came to look after her for the afternoon/evening, and I popped on a bus to Brighton to meet Nick for our first date night in a really really long time! We had a wonderful time with pre-dinner drinks and dinner at the amazing Giggling Squid. We then wander along the seafront, and lay on the pebbles, watching the sunset over the West Pier. We haven’t done that for years! We went for a cheeky post-dinner drink before getting on the bus home. Perfection!

We had to be up early-ish on Saturday morning to meet the Music Director at the Church to finalise our ceremony music. Busby wasn’t quite sure about the organ, waggling her finger at it and saying “no!” But hopefully a few visits to church over the next two months will solve that… We went for coffee and cake afterwards and now I’m sat in the car writing this as she snoozes behind me!

I love the beach photos. In fact, I think we might head to the beach today!

This sounds like a perfect week (aside from poorliness on Thursday- but I’m glad it resulted in you getting some proper down-time). I had a proper giggle at the image of B telling off the church organ; hopefully she’ll be a bit more used to it by your wedding day! Did you mean a skills swap massage?! Are you helping a masseuse with something work-related in exchange for massages? I DEFINITELY want to do that. I wonder if any local masseurs need their admin organised… xxx

Sounds like a good week. That’s a fab photo of you and Busby. Well done on surviving solo parenting, I was really worried about having to look after 2 alone so I can understand your nerves. Have a nice week xx
