Pregnant with a Peppercorn // 12 weeks pregnant

I’ve got to admit, there have been a few times during this pregnancy where I wondered whether we’d make it to 12 weeks. I’ve been feeling so worried, and so guilty, as we managed to get pregnant so quickly, that the pregnancy wouldn’t last. That probably sounds ridiculous, but the mind of a pregnant woman isn’t always the sanest, with the amount of hormones whizzing around my body at the moment; I cried the other day at Buble’s It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas because, as I sobbed at Nick, “I love Christmas”.

Oh man.
12 weeks pregnant But here we are! I had my dating scan this week, which put me at exactly 12 weeks with an EDD of 22nd June 2015. Peppercorn spent most of the scan wriggling about as the sonographer tried to take measurements, so he/she is definitely taking after Busby already! The scan itself was a bit odd, as Nick wasn’t allowed in until right at the end as we had Busby with us; the sonographer obviously thought she’d distract away from what they were trying to do. Nick felt rather left out by this (which is perfectly understandable), and it felt odd for me seeing Peppercorn for the first time without Nick there. We won’t be taking Busby to the 20 week scan, so we can both experience the whole appointment together.

This week Peppercorn is the size of a lime! Baby’s reflexes have started developing this week, and his little body is growing very quickly.

I’ve been craving ice cream this week… lots of ice cream! It seems to dominate my dreams… I suppose it’s a suitable replacement for prosecco. I’ve also been noshing on bananas, which I’m finding really help with pregnancy hangover.

Oh that’s so mean they weren’t allowed in until the end! Sienna has been allowed in all of ours even when we got our bad news and everything! Hopefully next time will be better for you but it’s not nice having to not take Busby! Silly hospital! X

How mean to go in alone! But I see their point. They need to check its a viable pregnancy and if something wasnt right would you want a young child seeing it all go on. That’s why we didn’t say anything until we’d had our 12 week scan to Immy.
We took her in with our second scan so she could see her baby sister (Immy insisted it was only going to be a girl) and she loved it. It was so lovely. Hope your next scan it more welcoming!

We weren’t allowed to take J to any of ours. In case there’s anything wrong etc. I guess. But yay! x

I can understand why they do it that way, but if something had been wrong, then you would have been all alone. We had been well warned in advance not to take our little one along to our hospital scans (my friend is a sonographer) but sometimes you just don’t have an option!

Yes, we had no option as the in-laws were away in Australia. She won’t be coming to the 20 week scan however 😉 xx
