Review + Giveaway // Slumberland CD

slumberland review

Indy is not the best sleeper in the world… He doesn’t tend to sleep much in the day, and night time is a bit like a game of snooze roulette. We managed to get into something that half resembled a routine, but in the past two weeks his sleep has gone downhill again terribly, and since then I’ve been shuffling around the house like something from The Walking Dead. When we were offered a copy of Slumberland to review, I was very much looking forward to listening… and hoped that it might lull my youngest into a slumber too.

Slumberland is a collection of songs and lullabies sung by Humphrey Berney – he has a super relaxing voice that also lulls me into a trance-like state (it doesn’t take too much at the moment!). Humphrey used to be a nanny; I bet he had the same effect on the children he was looking after as Caractacus Potts did when he sang Hush-a-bye Mountain in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

My favourite tracks on the CD are Over the Rainbow and Moon River – both are gorgeous! Humphrey is accompanied by piano, and occasionally guitar on the CD.

Indy loves listening to music, and we’ve very much enjoying chilling out and winding down to Slumberland.

Not only is the music wonderful, but the CD case contains the most beautiful artwork designed by Humphrey’s wife, Charlotte! Busby loves talking through the artwork, which goes from day to night by opening up the case.

Hush little baby don’t say a word is our favourite – I’ve just spent months singing it each night to my little nieces, complete with improvisations to include references to their favourite cartoon characters, like Peter Rabbit and Elsa from Frozen!

Hush Little Baby is the one I tend to sing. But my daughter responded well to my husband singing I Can Sing a Rainbow, so that has a place in my heart.
