I’ve really grown to love our house. It’s a space that completely works for us – everything flows well, and all the rooms are decent sizes for our ever-growing family. It already holds so many memories.
It’s taken me a while to adjust to our life here in Yorkshire, and therefore it’s taken me a while to put up photos and other bits and bobs to make it feel more homely. But over the past six months, I’ve been doing just that.
I love a good peruse through a home and interiors shop, so when Uncommon Goods asked me to compile a little wishlist, I had lots of fun browsing with a cup of tea in hand!
If you’ve never heard of Uncommon Goods before, they’re an American company based in Brooklyn, New York. Uncommon Goods make it their mission to support and provide a platform for artists and designers; in fact, half of what they sell is made by hand. And about one-third of their entire collection incorporates recycled and/or upcycled materials. How fab is that? Their blog has a selection of Meet the Maker interviews and studio tours – and they’re definitely worth a read during a night feed or naptime if you’re nosey like me. Uncommon Goods are also all about fair wages for their workers, and even their lowest-paid seasonal workers start on 50% above the minimum wage.
I started off in their garden section as Nick has been working hard on making the garden a lovely space for us to chill out. I came across this awesome sign (below) which I really love, because we could personalise it for all of our family members dotted around the globe.
Then I wandered into the decorative accents section. I could have lost hours just browsing through their terrariums! I also thought this catch all chair was a brilliant (ironic) idea… and it would look fantastic in our bedroom as the grey metal matches our bed frame.
Finally, I ended up perusing the pillows and blankets. I don’t know about you, but I have a bit of a thing for cushions… and llamas! So this one was pretty perfect.
I also love the adventure story cushion, and think that it would be perfect for H-Bear’s teepee!
