Lovely Things // Unisex New Baby Gift Guide

unisex new baby gift guideMy best friend is about to bring her first baby into the world at any given moment. Eek! They haven’t found out the gender, so it’s even more exciting! I’m on tenterhooks with every text and cannot wait to have baby snuggles.

It feels very strange to have her join the proverbial “club”. I’ve been a mother for almost five years now and, as one of the first in our peer group to have a baby, I had gotten used to being the only one to bring the children to parties and BBQs! Now babies are popping out everywhere, and I feel rather old hat at this parenting game. There’s every chance that our pregnancy and newborn adventure might be over forever (although I’m really hoping not!), and it feels strange that my best friend is only just starting hers…!

Anyway, I’ve collaborated with some of my favourite brands to bring you this lovely little unisex newborn gift guide – and I hope it will give you some ideas for your own gifts.

1. We Are Scamp ‘I’m Your Greatest Adventure’ Bib (from £9.50)

We Are Scamp are a big favourite of ours here. Their screen-printed personalised items are amazing and these bibs are the cutest! Perfect for everything from milk dribbles, to when you eventually start weaning. We Are Scamp’s wonderful baby bibs are made from a double layer of super soft cotton fabric with a velcro fastening, which makes them very easy to take off!

2. The Bunting Tree British Summer T-shirt (from £13.50)

Regular readers will know how much we love The Bunting Tree, and how cute is this little top (0-3 months) in their British Summer print? Both of The Bunting Tree’s current prints are unisex and come in long and short sleeved versions of the t-shirt. They’re made from GOTS organic cotton, making them super kind for little skin. Plus the teeniest sizes are currently in the sale!

3. This Mama Does Milestone Cards (£9.95)

Milestone cards are such a fun way of sharing those moments you don’t want to forget – even if it’s just through WhatsApp with your partner! I love these alternative ones from This Mama Does. ‘Send Gin’ was always a favourite in our household… especially during those tandem poo moments!

4. Green People Nipple Cream 50ml (£10)

Breastfeeding is obviously the most natural way to feed your baby, but those first few days (even weeks) can be so painful with cracked nipples. Green People have developed a new Nipple Cream which is made with beeswax and calendula to help soothe, nurture and heal. The cream is 100% natural, so there’s no need to remove it before feeding, and it’s made for super sensitive skin so you know it’s going to be gentle.

5. Ola Jr Stationery (from £2.95)

I chose my best friend’s ‘Welcome to the World’ card about 6 months ago when I found out she was pregnant, but I thought this card from the gorgeous new Ola Jr range would be an adorable addition.

What’s your favourite gift idea from the above? Do you have any newborn gift ideas that you swear by?
