Toys // Mr Kipling Tea Set Review

At two and a half, H-Bear is really getting stuck into his imagination play, and Busby’s toy kitchen is a big favourite of his. So when we were offered a fantastic Mr Kipling Tea Set to review, I knew it was a toy he would absolutely adore. Because – let’s face it – there really is nothing better than a cup of tea and a slice of cake!

The tea set comes with four cups, four saucers, four cake plates, four teaspoons, four knives and forks, a milk jug, a sugar bowl, a teapot, a cake stand and a selection of Mr Kipling’s famous exceedingly good cakes. Including a cherry bakewell, French fancies, a slice of treacle tart, an apple pie, a jam tart, a piece of battenberg and an angel slice.

I must admit that playing with the set had me running to the supermarket before the school run to stock up on a few cheeky treats…!

The cake stand was very easy to put together (with stickers for the top of the stand).

It’s such a lovely toy, which not only promotes imagination play, but also has a puzzle element. Each cake has a different shaped hole on the base, which can be fitted in the corresponding place on the cake stand.

H-Bear has absolutely adored working out where the cakes go, and spent a good 45 minutes repeatedly taking them off the cake stand, counting the cakes on the picnic blanket, and then finding out where they go on the stand again.

However, I think H’s favourite thing about the set is being able to make me a cup of tea! He spends ages pouring me tea, adding milk and stirring, and then gleefully handing me the cup of tea.

I love the gender neutral colours of the set; it’s very much a ‘play for all’ and the bright colours are gorgeous.

The Mr Kipling Tea Set from Casdon retails at £11.99 and is available to buy from a number of different retailers. It’s been a huge hit with everyone in our family – even Bertie!

Oh Bertie! This looks like such a fab little set but it has very much made me want a cherry bakewell and a french fancy! Oscar’s favourite thing is playing with the toy kitchen so this would be a great addition for him!
