What the Children Wore // Maebelle & Bo

As the weather gradually improves, my What the Children Wore feature creeps back onto the blog. Yay! It’s been a long winter, but fingers crossed the next heatwave will kick the weather into gear and we’ll have a lovely warm summer, so keep your eyes peeled for many more features over the next few weeks.

This week I’m showcasing handmade loveliness from Sheffield-based Maebelle & Bo. Rachel started Maebelle & Bo in 2014 after making clothes for her two children and deciding to branch out into selling. She now also designs most of the fabrics you see on her website – with the majority being organic GOTS certified.

Rachel knows how much we love yellow here at Make, Do & Push! HQ, so the children were each sent something gorgeous and yellow!

I captured these photos while we were away on our Scottish adventure with Cameron Lodges last week. We explored The Enchanted Wood and then skimmed stones on the banks of Loch Lomond; it was a pretty perfect day.

Busby was sent this fabulous ‘Wild West with robots’ dress with contrasting yellow sleeves. Isn’t it fun?!

It fits her wonderfully and the soft cotton means that the dress perfect for adventures!

Plus the print is so fun – with its cowboys, Indians and robots – that it definitely inspires imagination play.

The dress has been ideal so far this year with its long sleeves – and it looks marvellous with tights and a pair of wellies!

H-Bear was sent possibly the most perfect dungaree romper!

The yellow print, made up of tractors and diggers, is everything a transport-obsessed two year old could wish for.

The romper is made from the softest organic cotton and is super comfy for exploring woods and paddling in Lakes!

The dungarees fasten with poppers on both shoulders, making them quick and easy to remove for nappy changes.

Busby wears age 5-6 years and H-Bear wear 2-3 years. Both fit perfectly – with a little room to grow for H-Bear (who is rather diddy).

I’ve been so impressed with the quality of both of the garments we were sent. They wash well, they are incredibly durable (which is exactly what you want for children who love to be outside) and they look wonderful.

Prices for H-Bear’s dungarees start from £20 and Busby’s dress from £18. Pop on over to the Maebelle & Bo website to check out the full range of gorgeous clothes.
