Baking a Bun // 8 weeks pregnant

Monday 23rd April 2018

8 weeks! And my goodness, I am feeling rough so far this week. I was sick for the first time yesterday and I feel generally yuck.

I’ve had a serious craving for sweets and scones the past few days.

We announced the pregnancy yesterday and the response has been so overwhelming. Thank you so much for the love!

I am SO glad that an old-school-style sweet shop has opened in our village! I can’t get enough of sour sweets right now – especially those fizzy apple lances.

I’m also craving black pudding, fry-ups, pizza and steak… it’s a mixed bag really. Although the first two gender predictions have come in this week. One is that Bun is a girl because the baby’s heartbeat was 150 BPM on our scan last week… and the other prediction is a girl as well, because William and Kate have had their third baby and it’s a boy, and we usually have the opposite gender to them.

I really don’t mind what we have – as long as the baby is healthy. I do have my eye on quite a few Boden dresses at the moment though…

I reached a new pregnancy low today and vomited in the kitchen sink. Fun times. I am feeling so awful this week – especially in the afternoons and evenings. Nausea seems to be a permanent addition to the week and I find myself feeling disappointed when I wake up because as soon as I do I feel awful again. I’m also feeling really cold in the evenings – I ended up putting the heating back on last night because I couldn’t warm up.

I’m trying to keep positive, but it’s really tough when you feel constantly rubbish.

And, oh my goodness, the pregnancy rage! I went out for coffee (see: cake and an iced beverage from Costa) with a friend today and spent a large proportion of the time ranting about random things. Oops!

I’ve got an extra work day today because Tuesday was a total write off. I’m trying so hard to concentrate, but the words are blurring on the screen and I’ve got such a headache.

I have two big campaigns on at the moment and then I’m going to switch my out of office on, delete my email account from my phone and give myself a proper week off. I can’t wait! I’m going to spend my normal Tuesday sleeping, watching The Greatest Showman and eating whatever my heart desires that day.

I have my booking appointment next Wednesday. I’m really hoping that I get the lovely midwife who I had for my last booking appointment… She also saw me postnatally with H-Bear and he peed all over her, so we have a good rapport! She’ll be booking my 12 week scan as well – only 3 and a bit weeks to go until we see Bun again.
