Wow! Just writing that title has made me feel incredibly hungry… I’m going to blame pregnancy for that one!
Next year Nick and I have decided to have a 60th birthday party. You see, we didn’t really celebrate Nick’s 30th birthday properly as we’d recently moved house and I’d given birth to H-Bear a few months previously, so we were extremely tired (he never slept as a baby) and we didn’t really feel much like partying. Then, when I turned 30 last year, I was pregnant with our lost baby and on holiday in the Lake District with the children… and then I’m pregnant again this year with Bun, so neither of us has been able to fully celebrate turning the big 3-0!
So, after feeling rather fed up with this ‘no drinking on my birthday’ malarky, I came up with a brilliant idea! We’re going to be combining our ages (because obviously we’re both perpetually 29 again until we’re able to celebrate!) and have a 60th party, with copious amounts of prosecco, gin and cake. Not to mention tasty food for all.
As foodies, we obviously love to eat and consequently, I have been looking at hog roast machines for our party, because who doesn’t love a hog roast?! All that delicious meat, crispy crackling and apple sauce, together in a delicious bap… Oh, I’m hungry again! This website looks great – there are so many options to choose from, including a BBQ set or a chicken spit set for those of our friends who don’t eat pork.
We could get a caterer in, but other than the obvious expensive that comes with a caterer, I know that Nick will want to make a lot of the food himself as he loves to cook, entertain and feed people. I’ll be in charge of the creative side of the party; the invitations, the decorations and the cakes. And, obviously the booze and the cheese, which are arguably the most important parts of the party (they’re certainly my favourite anyway).
Fingers crossed we get another glorious summer like the one we’re having at the moment, and then we can party in our garden late into the evening!
Have you ever hired a hog roast machine? Was it as delicious a experience as I envisage it will be? Ooh, my mouth is watering at the thought already! Bring on 2019!
