Baking a Bun // 38 weeks pregnant

Monday 19th November 2018

So 38 weeks! Wow! According to my app, Bun is the size of a Pomeranian dog and should weigh around 7lbs.

I went nesting CRAZY yesterday! I completely hoovered and scrubbed our bedroom ahead of the crib (and Bun) coming in and it looks SO much better now. I’m feeling it this morning though… I might have a go at building the Snuzpod in the next couple of days.

Bun has been a little quiet over the past 24 hours, so I’m glad that we’re off to see the midwife just before lunch today. I’m sure she’s fine, as she’s moving as I type now, but hearing her heartbeat will give me some reassurance. I think I just overdid it yesterday!

All was fine at the midwife yesterday! Bump is measuring perfectly, heartbeat was wonderful and no concerns. Our next appointment is at 41 weeks, which we all agreed probably wouldn’t be happening… fingers crossed!

Woah! I was EMOTIONAL yesterday! Holy moly… I only had two settings: extreme rage or a waterfall of tears, and poor H-Bear spent most of the morning looking very perplexed. Anyway… thankfully Nick’s parents came and did the school run for me, and then took H to their house for a sleepover and day of fun today. Goodness knows the poor boy needs it! I’ve been feeling so guilty that I can’t do much with him at the moment… all I want to do is lie in bed, and for a three year old, that’s fairly tedious.

I also bleached the kitchen yesterday and frantically cleaned other parts of the house. I’m so very ready for her now!

As I was dropping off to sleep last night, I started having quite strong contractions again. I breathed through them and managed to drift off but I did wonder whether it might be time again! She’s good at teasing this baby… I’m hoping she’ll let me have my pregnancy massage on Friday, that I’m desperately looking forward to, and then decide it’s her time to arrive.

Today has been rather blissful so far – I’m still in my pjs as I write this and it’s almost lunchtime. No one is demanding anything from me and I have a large bar of Fruit & Nut and my Kindle with a trashy novel downloaded. I don’t intend to move much more than to go downstairs and make lunch, and then I suppose I’ll change into actual clothes when Busby gets back from school… I suppose.

Friday 23rd November 2018

Well, today was eventful! I woke up at 5am with period-like pains and surges… I tried to get back to sleep, but alas couldn’t. I was convinced that today would be the day, as it’s how I started early labour with both Busby and H-Bear. I cancelled my morning meeting, and spent the morning in bed, contracting away. The surges came and went, but didn’t really increase in intensity.

I had a pregnancy massage booked for the afternoon, which I decided to still go to as I thought it might help move things along. Thankfully I was able to get a lift there and back so I didn’t have to deal with public transport and a possible waters breaking situation! The massage was incredible, but by the time I got home and the kids were back from school, everything had quietened down.

Sigh!

Saturday 24th November 2018

Nothing really to report today. No more contractions or cramps. It’s all been rather quiet after yesterday! We had a lovely wander around Hull and a Christmas market this morning (hello churros!), and then spent the afternoon doing some Christmas crafting and taking a rather silly photo for a work campaign! This is probably our last photo as a foursome (photos of us as a four are very few and far between!), so I’ll post it below.

39 weeks tomorrow… will Bun arrive next week? At least my lovely student midwife will be back and able to attend the birth!
