Farewell: My box of office possessions! |
Firstly, I would like to say that I’m very proud of myself – I managed to hold off any tears right up until the end of the day. This is an achievement for me, both as a highly emotional human-being in general, and also as a hormonal pregnant lady. *High five*
Despite being thick with cold and exhausted after only 4 hours sleep, I’ve had a lovely day filled with cake and surprises! A big thank you to Fiona for organising everything; I am going to miss you a lot!

My card: In case pregnancy brain really takes over and I completely forget why I’m not at work! |
I took some photos of the beautiful flowers and my balloon-filled desk (below). I also received IKEA vouchers from the department so I can buy my nursing chair, and the cutest Indian baby outfit from Jey, Jincy and their little baby girl (who incidentally had the same due date as Grape – just one year earlier!)

My balloon-filled, flowery desk! (My screen saver holds an important message) |

Very cute traditional Indian outfit! |
All in all it’s been a very surreal day, and I’m waiting for it all to sink in! I’m both sad and excited, and I’m looking forward to using my maternity leave to utilise my creativity, and perhaps even open some unknown, exciting doors. As well as raising a beautiful little girl, of course!
So what now? Well, we’re moving on Saturday, and then I guess I just sit tight and wait for my little trouble-monkey to arrive! Fingers crossed she gives me a few days of freedom before she decides to appear!
