Yesterday I attended the fabulous Pop-Up Christmas Vintage Fair at the Adastra Hall in Hassocks. I’d been looking forward to this for weeks, and it had been in my diary since it was announced in September; so as you can imagine I was one excited vintage-loving lady!
My Vintage Bargains!
I found this gorgeous Christmas tablecloth for £5; the pattern is gingerbread men and women, pigs and another animal (I think?) that I can’t work out. It’s going to look wonderful on our coffee table with home-baked Christmas goodies on it…which I shall start preparing in the coming weeks*.

Mutti bought a lovely embroidered tablecloth and set of 4 napkins for £8. They were very pretty; embroidered with a snowman, reindeer, Father Christmas and other Christmas-themed motifs. We think they’re Spanish and are so unique!
The find I am most excited about are my vintage china deer. I’ve been trawling eBay for weeks in search of some kitsch china for the woodland nursery (don’t worry – they will be on the highest shelf away from tiny fingers) and I couldn’t believe my luck when I came across these! I bought three, totalling £11, which I think is a great price. They’re going to look fabulous in the nursery.
Mutti and I then stopped off for a cup of tea and cake in one of the two tearooms. Both tea and cake were served in/on vintage china. I had a lovely piece of carrot cake and Mutti had a delightfully light victoria sponge. Please excuse the gratuitous cake photos – got to love a bit of food porn.

A good cup of tea is always required after a hard afternoon of shopping! |
All in all a successful afternoon and I can’t wait for the next one! You can follow the Pop-Up Vintage Team on Twitter and Facebook for information about upcoming fairs; they seem to be branching out around Sussex as the concept becomes more popular (Lewes in May – yay!). And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a vintage-inspired shopping experience?
