Make: Step-by-step Paper Butterfly Doilies

A couple of weeks ago I decided to finish Busby’s bedroom wall whilst she was at Nursery. I had a packet of paper doilies that I’ve been using for various crafty projects – Busby loves anything that can fly at the moment – so I thought I’d have a go at making paper butterflies with these for her room.

This would be a fantastic craft to do with children on a rainy day.

Step One
Pick your doily size.

Step Two
Cut out your butterfly wings.

Step Three
Draw a sausage shape for your butterfly’s body.

Step Four
Work out where each piece of the butterfly will go.

Step Five
Cut out the antenna for your butterfly – I used a different coloured paper for these.

Step Six
Stick it all together. I used sellotape to do this, but glue would do the trick too!

Ta-da! Stick to the wall and there you have it! A very easy and satisfying crafty project.

Let me know how you get on if you have a go!

These are lovely. Where do you buy your doilies from? I looked for them a while back and couldn’t find any?
