Pregnancy // Rebranding “Morning” Sickness: A Poem

Oh “morning” sickness,
You are a laugh.
The hormones whizzing around
Making me barf.

But let’s be honest,
You need a new name
Because I feel pretty rubbish
Most of the day.

If you were a business,
You would have rebranded by now;
Misinforming the public?
The ASA would not allow.

So, what best describes
The way you make us feel?
The headaches, the nausea,
As if we’ve been spinning on a wheel.

I’ve got an idea
I’ve felt like this previously
The days spent hugging
The toilet bowl grievously.

So I shall call you:
“The Pregnancy Hangover”
It accurately describes
The symptoms, moreover.

You can be cured briefly
By a can of fizz,
Or a bacon sandwich
With ketchup, that is.

You are best dealt with
Getting fresh air,
And puking in a bin?
I don’t really care.

But truth be told,
I feel rough all day,
And you’ll disappear soon,
In your own special way.

Until that happens,
Let’s change your title,
Let’s stop lying,
I think that it’s vital.

“Pregnancy Hangover”
Hence forth you shall be known,
Tell all women the truth,
And let us not deal with you alone.

I can’t find your ‘like’ button on the post, so you get a comment instead - bravo! God I hated my Pregnancy Hangover. It hit without fail every day 10am - 3pm, 6pm on a bad day. Crisps was the only thing that helped! (No, it wasn’t an excuse to just eat crisps.)
