Pregnant with a Peppercorn // 20 weeks pregnant

The obvious big news from this week is that we had our 20 week scan on Monday, and we’re overjoyed to announce that we’re expecting a boy!!! The shopping has commenced (ok, ok, I started shopping before we found out…) and the list of boy names is growing every day. Nick is struggling with boy names – whereas I’ve had a few on my list for a while now. I’m trying to convince him that it would be pretty awesome to call Peppercorn “Teddy Rex” so we could shorten it to “T-Rex”, but he’s not sold… Apparently my dinosaur obsession can only influence his style, not his name. Sigh.

This week Peppercorn is the size of a banana, so around 26cm from head to heel! He seems to like hiding just above my bladder, which is where he spent most of the 20 week scan… I had to do a fair few star jumps to get him moving, and also jiggling about on the bed, on my hands and knees, to see whether he’d move into the right position!

I’ve gone off carrots even more this week; the thought of them makes me feel very sick and I can’t stand them in my food. I’ve been eating my way through a lot of chocolate; namely Dairy Milk Caramel! I’ve still been craving cherry yoghurts (and yoghurts in general). I’ve also had a craving for cookie dough – both the ice cream and the raw substance, and Busby and I made some cookies in the week which sated this.

Peppercorn has been moving around a lot more again this week – I’ve been considerably more relaxed so I think that’s helped! I had three small bleeds on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, but listening to the Midwife’s advice (don’t be worried unless you lose more than an egg cup full of fresh blood) I’m not too concerned at the moment.

Bumptasche!

Sunday sees us going on our Babymoon, so I’ll write about that when I get back. I can’t wait! We’re spending two nights in a local(ish) hotel and spa; one of its restaurants has a Michelin star, so we’re looking forward to indulging before I reach the point of pregnancy where I can’t eat anything a) too rich, b) too filling and c) too late in the evening! Monday will be spent by the poolside relaxing, reading and swimming – I’ve got a pregnancy massage booked too, which will be blissful! I can feel myself unwinding already.

So excited for you! LOVE Teddy-Rex. We have a nickname for Baby Girl along the same lines. I too am slightly dinosaur obsessed…
I started blogging the day of my 20 week scan; so special isn’t it.

Congratulations! Cravings are funny things aren’t they? I had cravings for meat and carbs! So not good for weight gain. I couldn’t stand anything sweet or veges. Strange isn’t it?
