Review // Sip & Learn Wine Tasting Box (Box #1)

As a pregnant lady, receiving an email that asked whether I wanted to review a wine tasting box was a little bit like torture, but after reading about Sip & Learn I said yes regardless, as I knew Nick and my in-laws would very much enjoy this opportunity, and I could have a small glass after 12 weeks!

The Sip & Learn Wine Tasting box is a new monthly subscription box for wine lovers. Each month you will receive two bottles of carefully selected wine, accompanied with a tasting booklet (which is more of a mini-magazine!).

The business is the brain-child of Marie-Anne, a marketing expert, and Sylvain, a wine expert, who decided that a monthly wine tasting box was a great idea for those who wanted to taste and learn more about wine from the comfort of their own home.

When Box #1 arrived we had lots of fun examining the two wines, and reading through the Sip & Learn booklet to learn more about what we’d be drinking. Box #1 contains two white wines: a Sauvignon Blanc – Château Gaillard, Touraine from Lore Valley in Northwestern France, and a Chardonnay – Domaine Cornin, Pouilly-Fuissé les Chevrières from Maconnais in East-Central France.

The Taste?
Obviously being pregnant I haven’t been able to have much of each bottle – but Nick and his parents have greatly enjoyed the wines. The favourite has been the Sauvignon Blanc, which was rather citrusy and gave the palette a hint of fizz; everyone found it very drinkable, and it was perfect with the salmon dish we enjoyed it with! The Chardonnay was also delicious – it was a wine with a lot of depth.

Each box is accompanied by a Sip & Learn tasting booklet, which if you’re interested in wine as we are, is a fascinating read. The booklet explains everything from how to taste wine, to what temperature to keep it at, and which food to eat with it. We all had a great time, sat around the dinner table, discussing the wine and reading through the book.

We’ve had a wonderful time tasting the wine; my Mother-in-Law loves her white wine, so she has been very happy with Box #1! I’m not usually a huge fan of white wine, but it has encouraged me to be a bit more adventurous and try more white wine once I’ve given birth!

The Sip & Learn Wine Tasting Box costs £30, and would make an ideal gift for a loved one who is passionate about their wine. You can order your Sip & Learn Wine Tasting Box on the Sip & Learn website.

I can’t wait to find out what Box #2 brings!

Sip & Learn are currently running a competition to win a 3 month subscription on their blog – click here for more details!
