This pregnancy has been all about embracing the bump, and something I’ve really enjoyed doing so far is dressing it! In my pregnancy with Busby I was self-conscious of my changing body; worried that everyone would think I was just fat, and consequently found myself dressing to cover up her bump, rather than show it off! This pregnancy has been very different in many ways – and I’ve realised that I love my pregnant shape and that it’s SO much easier to wear clothes when you’re not worrying about your lumps and bumps showing… in fact you want one bump in particular to stand out!
The lovely folk at Heavenly Bump have sent me two gorgeous maternity dresses to try, so this is post one of two. The dress in the photos below is the Maternity Polka Dot 3/4 Sleeve Dress – I chose it because it looked like it would be so easy to wear with both maternity tights and leggings; and I haven’t been wrong!
The dress is made from a soft jersey fabric so it’s stretchy and feels incredibly comfortable. It’s the perfect “throw it on” dress – and was a wonderful addition to my Babymoon wardrobe last weekend, as it was super comfy for walking around Bolton Abbey in. It’s been a dream to wash – and doesn’t require ironing… which is always a win for a busy Mama!
The dress is empire line, so it does emphasise the bump more than other maternity dresses, but I love this about it. It’s certainly one of those “oh yes, she’s definitely pregnant dresses!” so I’ve received quite a few smiles whilst wearing it.
I love the polka dot pattern, and the 3/4 length sleeves will be ideal for Spring when coats can be banished for a few months. My only (small) niggle with the dress is that the v-neck is rather low so, as you can see in the photos, I’ve added a strappy top underneath the dress to protect my modesty!
It’s a super versatile dress, and I’m looking forward to wearing it for the rest of my pregnancy and beyond – as it will be ideal for nursing too! The Heavenly Bump Polka Dot dress costs £32 and is available to buy on the Heavenly Bump website. Heavenly Bump have got some fab maternity wear on their site, so pop on over for a browse!
