Pregnant with a Peppercorn // 24 weeks pregnant

This week started off positively; Nick took a carers day on Monday to take me to the Doctor and be there for me before and after the appointment. The Doctor was lovely – she was about my age, and definitely someone I felt I could talk to. She handed me tissues, held my hand, and told me to come and see her every week until the talking therapy appointment comes through. She was very positive and I left the appointment feeling incredibly supported. I had a phone call regarding my talking therapy appointment later that day, and I’ve been fast-tracked through the system as I’m pregnant, so I have my first appointment next week.

Phew!

Peppercorn should be about 30cm long at 24 weeks, and the size of an ear of corn. I’ve felt him move up the bump this week, so I’ve had kicks all over the place, rather than the lower bump where he’s only been kicking so far… This obviously means that my womb has grown again, and therefore all my internal organs are starting to get squished! Consequently, I’ve reached the point in pregnancy where I can’t eat past 8pm… nor can I eat super rich food! I’ve been suffering from horrible heart burn, indigestion and (sexy) wind this week – all of which have been fairly painful, and the heart burn isn’t something I’ve ever really experienced before, so I did (over dramatically and very briefly) wonder whether I might be having a heart attack at one point.

Dino Bump! “Mummy, Baby needs dinosaur too!”

Thursday afternoon was lovely as Peppercorn and I spent some one-on-one bump time together, which I realised is something I haven’t done much of this pregnancy! I’m usually stuck working on the days I have time without Busby. He kicked for almost the entire afternoon as I baked for the impending arrival of my best friend and her Husband, and I really enjoyed lying on the sofa with a cup of tea, chatting to him quietly.

I have (pretty much) named him this week, but chances are he’ll look completely different to this name! It’s a name we both love, but it keeps slipping out in conversation when I’m talking about him!

I’ve not had any more bleeds now for a few weeks, which is a huge relief! I did, however, have an incident on Saturday night which resulted in me almost fainting in a very busy, crowded restaurant bar while we waited for our table. I don’t really know what happened – one minute I was chatting and the next I felt like I was going to be sick and the room started spinning. Nick took me outside and the waiter brought me some water, but sadly I wasn’t strong enough to return to inside so we had to go back to the house… Our friends were, thankfully, very understanding!

My eczema flare-ups have been soothed by the discovery of Dream Cream from Lush – a couple of people suggested I give it a go, and it’s truly magical!

I’ve been craving cheese and cherry tomato sandwiches, Lilt and fish this week. We’ve consumed a fair amount of salmon recently due to this craving!

Next week sees the start of my talking therapy and copious amounts of packing for our trip to Sussex… and Mother’s Day! Sadly no champagne breakfast this year, but I am hoping for lots of cuddles and a relaxing day.

Oh no I had many of those sicky/fainting moments during both pregnancies so really feel for you there. I bet it is nice to have a bit of one on one time with baby bump 🙂 x

I’ve been having those fainting moments too, always when I’m in one particular shop! It’s so strange and I feel so unwell. There doesn’t seem to be any underlying reason for them so it appears Bump just doesn’t like that place! Glad your appointment has come through, I hope it helps xx
