“Just you wait!” they say
“And you’ll see,
In a few more weeks,
You’ll be full of energy.”
So I wait, and I wait,
And I wait a bit more,
But at 25 weeks pregnant
All I can do is snore.
On top of all this
I’m still feeling sick,
And my bladder screams regularly:
“Quick! Toilet! Quick!”
My legs and my feet,
They all are a-swollen,
And anything non-fibre,
Gets jammed in my colon.
Dinner can’t be eaten,
Too late at night,
Because heartburn will strike me,
And give me a fright.
Let’s not dwell,
On the painful indigestion,
Nor the badly-timed wind,
Blamed on the Toddler… bless them!
Then there are Piles,
I’m not talking about the washing,
And the tooth ache and pain,
Despite the intense brushing.
Pregnancy insomnia,
And milk-leaking breasts,
But lacking the high libido,
That my pregnancy app suggests.
Evening engagements
No longer occur,
Since I can’t stay awake,
And conversation does blur.
I’m still waiting and waiting,
Oh, when will I bloom?
The second trimester will be
Over so soon.
And then the third trimester,
Will begin – it’s not long!
All without blooming,
Have I done something wrong?
Body, all I ask,
Is for one week of fun.
One week of blooming,
Glistening in the proverbial sun.
One week of not feeling
Like I’ve been hit by a bus,
And then I might stop making
Such a blooming big fuss!

Awwww 🙁 I am also waiting for the “blooming” to commence!!!! Last time by now I was blooming tastic I swear!!!
The pregnancy apps make it very annoying rubbing it in with the promises of thick glossy hair, strong nails, lots of energy blah blah blah!!!!!
Anyway, loved reading this lovely very clever 🙂
Here’s hoping you get some lovely pregnancy bloom soon!!! Xx

Thanks lovey 🙂 I felt it briefly yesterday, but another night of Toddler raving and night time noises have ruined it for today! xxx
Great poem-I am sure the blooming stage is a myth just to keep pregnant ladies in hope…I don’t think I ever had it with either pregnancies haha x
