Pregnant with a Peppercorn // 34 weeks pregnant

At 34 weeks I’m really starting to slow down, which is pretty rubbish when you have a house to renovate and a Toddler to run after. I don’t often wish I was Kate Middleton, but I’m fairly certain she wasn’t up a stepladder with a paint brush in hand, whilst simultaneously shouting “don’t you dare touch that paint!” at George, when she was 8 months pregnant… I’m sure she was in confinement, accompanied by scones laden with jam and the finest clotted cream. Perhaps in a warm swimming pool where she could just float in water all day. I’m drifting off into my own little pregnant fantasy there… Mmm scones and weightlessness.

This week Peppercorn is approximately 2.2kg and measures around 45cm from head to toe. He weighs about the same as a cantaloupe melon or a pineapple, and judging by the jabs I’ve been on the receiving end of this week, he’s as spiky as a pineapple too…

I’ve been craving Costa’s peach iced tea this week – I think this is due to the combination of sugar, a teeny hit of caffeine and the copious amounts of ice they use to make it. I’ve had one almost everyday; thank goodness for my Costa loyalty points! I’ve also been fairly desperate for fruity flapjacks, nectarines and MarsBars. After numerous attempts at eating it, I’ve come to the conclusion that bacon gives me pretty awful heartburn, which is rather sad – fingers crossed that doesn’t continue postpartum!

I confirmed our pool for the home birth this week, and have another Home Birth Support Meeting next week, which I’m really looking forward to! I’m still to write my birth plan, but I’m hoping that once we’ve moved house I’ll be able to put some time aside one evening to plan how I might like it all to go…

I haven’t been sleeping particularly well due to Peppercorn getting himself into some awkward positions in the middle of the night, but I’m trying not to complain too much as I know it’s not for much longer, and I’m trying my hardest to appreciate everything about these last few weeks – however uncomfortable! I’ve also been getting some burning pain at the top of my Bump, but after consulting Dr Google it sounds like it’s just Peppercorn’s little feet bruising me internally, so fun times.

It’s not easy to slow down as a normal civilian, is it? It does sound as though you are super busy though lovely, be careful with yourself! BTW - I really want scones now! 😉 xxx

Almost there! I can’t get enough of anything icy at the moment - Calippos are my favourite, but I am quite partial to a Costa Cooler too.

When I was 34 weeks with my son, I was practically dead on my feet and I’ve always wondered how I would cope with a second child. I guess you just do!
