My beautiful Thrupenny Bits breastfeeding pillow was delivered a few weeks before Indy arrived on the planet, and I fell head over heels with it as soon as I unwrapped it. In fact, I used it a number of times before he was born as a pregnancy pillow, when trying to get comfortable in bed or on the sofa.
It took me a while to choose a pillow from all of the wonderful designs – I was stuck between the classic blue stripe and classic blue floral cushion; the latter is the pillow I eventually opted for. I loved the country chic fabric – the pillow has hardwearing blue and pink floral fabric on one side and a soft baby blue needle corduroy on the under side. It’s just so pretty and grown-up! The covers are also removable (which makes them interchangeable!) and are machine washable.
The pillow is absolutely fantastic; it’s lovely and firm, and I’ve found it especially useful for feeding at night, when both Indy and I are dozy and we’re trying to maintain a correct, comfortable position and latch.
The ties on either side make it perfect for hands-free feeding, as you can tie the pillow around yourself to prevent baby slipping down potential gaps and maintaining a comfortable position. Very useful when working on the laptop, or (more importantly) for drinking tea and eating much-needed breastfeeding fodder (cake). The ties also mean that the pillow is portable, as can be tied together and slung over the arm! This is going to be fantastic for when Indy and I travel around meeting family and friends and I need to feed on public transport.
The Thrupenny Bits breastfeeding pillow has multiple uses. As I’ve said above, I used the pillow pre-baby and now for breastfeeding with Indy, but it can also be transformed into a bag for after breastfeeding by just taking out the inner pillow! I’ve also used the pillow for tummy time with Indy.
The pillows come in various sizes – we were sent the classic, which is ideal for feeding a newborn. The Thrupenny Bits pillows are Midwife endorsed and have won lots of awards, and I can see why; I’ve been so impressed with mine!
The Classic Blue Floral breastfeeding pillow costs £45 and is available to buy on the Thrupenny Bits website.
This pillow looks lovely - and anything that makes breastfeeding easier is always helpful! I love that you can use it as a bag afterwards too - ingenious!
The pillow is gorgeous very Cath Kidston-esque. I’d say breastfeeding pillows are a necessity for breastfeeding mums. Not only do they prevent you hurting your back, but are fantastic cushions for that phase when baby isn’t quite able to sit but is more curious about their surroundings.
What a gorgeous pillow! I’ve invested in one before but honestly, never ended using it much. The one I had was a bit too bulky, too high and not very comfortable. This one looks like it’s a perfect height and even comes in a few sizes. I’d definitely be trying this one out.
