Ah wallpaper…
When we moved into our new abode, we had to strip the most ghastly wallpaper off the walls in every single room in the house (barring our bedroom); an arduous task that lasted many days, so you’d think I’d be rather sick of the sight of it?!
Not quite yet!
Did you know that this week (5th - 11th October 2015) is National Wallpaper Week? Hurrah!
When I started designing Indy’s nursery I knew I wanted to create a statement wall as I did with Busby’s cloud wall (that I painstakingly stencilled by hand). Unfortunately, time is not of the essence at the moment with a newborn, a toddler and a very busy blog, so rather than hand-stencilling or painting a mural, I wondered whether wallpaper might be able to assist me in completing Indy’s nursery.
The theme for Indy’s nursery is “Dinosaurs and Robots and Bears, oh my!” I want his room to be a space that he feels inspired in. A space where he can grow and learn in. And most importantly, a space he loves to play in!
I have two Pinterest boards full of ideas and inspiration… Oh, how I love Pinterest!
1. Graham & Brown Forager Wallpaper // 2. Hello DODO Screenprinted dinosaurs // 3. Cosatto Robot Cotbed // 4. Bear fabric // 5. Handmade bear
6. Awesome teepee // 7. Colour inspiration // 8. Colour inspiration // 9. Dino drawers
Our house backs onto a beautiful green space with a lake and many trees - the windows in the children’s bedrooms frame the trees wonderfully, so for Indy’s room I took inspiration from the greenery and opted for off-white and mint green walls. I have been accessorising with yellows and deep browns, and Graham & Brown’s Forager wallpaper is going to be ideal for his statement wall. I’m also going to use the Forager wallstickers to decorate other walls - popping bears on top of light switches and frames!
I bought a fab lampshade from The Range last week, which has a forest print on the inside of the shade, and I intend to adorn the outside with hand-cut fabric bear silhouettes. All of the pictures for his picture wall have been framed now - I’ve got lots of gorgeous prints from various UK makers and crafters.
Of course, his bed is the awesome Cosatto robot cotbed which I gave my first impressions of here, and a full review is to follow in the next couple of weeks. I’m also on the search for a teepee for his reading corner!
I can’t wait to share his finished room with you! I just need to beg my Father-in-Law to help me wallpaper Indy’s statement wall now, as I’m not known for my ability to do things in straight lines!
I’ve been admiring that wallpaper for quite some time, and I STILL wish the robot bed came in grown up sizes. May have to get my stencil on… What a lucky baby Indy is
