H-Bear // 40+1 (A Poem)

Now you’ve been out
For as long as you were in,
I still walk around
With a stupid great grin.
Yes, you hate sleeping,
And you don’t like to be,
Too far away from a
Rather sleep-deprived me.
But you can crawl at a speed,
That would beat any hedgehog,
Following me round,
Like my own personal lapdog.
You can cruise round the sofa,
You can cruise round your cot,
You can cover my jumper,
Entirely in snot.
You can eat more than Busby,
And Mummy combined!
What about Daddy?
You’re not too far behind!
Your favourite foods include
All kinds of meat,
And you love a gingerbread man,
As an after dinner treat.
You have a few allergies,
And you still can’t have cheese…
As much as your eyes beg:
“Oh please, Mummy! Please!”
We’ve had a couple
Of long stretches of sleep,
Each time I wake up worried
And pop in for a peep.
You love to sleep in my arms,
With a smile on your face.
And I have to admit,
It’s also my favourite place.
You’re ever-so affectionate,
And love a good kiss,
Which is why we’re all living
In snotty, coughing bliss…
Your arms wave and waggle
When we read you a book,
You shout in excitement,
So happy you look!
Busby’s toy stable,
With horses to play,
Opening and shutting the door,
You could be there all day.
Oh my little H-Bear,
This time is flying too fast,
Very soon your first year,
Will have gone right past.

*Hannah sobs into tub of mini flapjacks.*

Aw what a cool poem and it rhymes! Sounds like lots and lots of milestones here, but I was sad to hear he can’t eat cheese! I hope his allergies go away one day! Xx

Aw what a beautiful little poem. I loved it, it is so lovely. Sums up my feelings exactly on motherhood and our little bundles. xx

Such a great and sentimental way to mark the 40 weeks. Glad you’re both doing well 🙂 x

What a lovely poem, why do kids have to grow up so quick and time go past so quick.
