Motherhood // Bepanthen… not just for bottoms!

Which products do you swear by as a parent? My list includes baby wipes (which I use for everything!), Ewan the Dream Sheep, and Bepanthen.

If you’ve never heard of Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment before then you’re probably wondering why it’s on my list. (But if you have heard of it – and used it – then you’ll know why!)

Bepanthen is an ointment containing pro-vitamin B5. Pro-vitamin B5 is a magical ingredient, which gently aids natural skin recovery – while keeping the affected area moisturised.

Basically, it’s super kind to sore bottoms, making it ideal for teething rashes – which H-Bear suffers dreadfully from. It’s a breathable ointment too; creating a transparent barrier against nappy contents, and thus further harmful effects.

The ointment doesn’t contain perfumes, preservatives or antiseptics – meaning it’s perfect for even the most sensitive of rashes.

I’ve also found it fantastic to use as an overnight hand cream! My skin doesn’t do well in the winter – and the water where we live is very hard. However, I’ve found that applying Bepanthen before bed really helps heal the dry skin overnight.

Not only are Bepanthen working miracles with bottoms (and hands), they’ve also just released a fantastic e-Book called ‘What the parenting manuals don’t tell you’.

It’s free to download, or you can view the book on the Bepanthen website. It’s jam-packed full of advice for new or expectant parents from those who have already experienced the highs, lows and poonami situations! The book was curated in collaboration with Lisa Clegg, who is a maternity nurse and mama to three children.

I can’t recommend Bepanthen enough, so if you’re looking for a gentle nappy ointment, or even something for weather-beaten hands, then pop into your local supermarket or Boots! A 30g tube of Bepanthen retails at £3.
